Sisters of Rapture in the Middle Ages
Sisters of Rapture: The Modern Path edition
Copic marker and colored pencil on paper
© 2014 Fantastic Gallery/T.Catt

This was completed for the RPG book from Fantastic Gallery, Sisters of Rapture: The Modern Path Edition, featuring the Rapturous for modern fantasy campaigns.  This piece is from the chapter on the history of the Sisterhood, which dates back to the ancient Greeks, and features a selection of Freyan Sisters who were common throughout western Europe during the early Medieval period, before being driven out by the early Christian empires (the Franks, the Carolingians, et al) and eventually being isolated in Scandinavia and England.  Their conflict with the early Christians is represented in this piece by the broken cross, with the crows representing the old Norse gods.

I was hesitant to share yet another piece from the book, but it was too cool not to show off.

Thanks.  The Sisters of Rapture are all about trying to fit the classic image of the nude warrior woman into D&D.  Or in this case, Pathfinder.

I'm always happy to see more of your art.

When is the book due?

When it's finished.  It's in stage 1 editing right now and hopefully will be ready for stage 2 soon.  I'm still getting art done for it, as well.  I still haven't found someone to do the Poser-style pieces I want done, so I'm probably going to have to abandon that idea and just draw those pieces myself.

I like to think so, at least as much as the original book has.  Admittedly, it's a bit more "setting-specific" than the original book, which means that there's a lot of so-called fluff material in it, such as an extensive history of the Sisters of Rapture in a "modern arcana" setting and a sample temple set in Los Angeles.  It's meant to supplement the original PFRPG release, as opposed to replacing it.  You won't specifically need the original book to play (just The Modern Path 2.0), but having it will certainly help.

Is that a question?  Yes, this is like "Dungeons & Dragons."  It's for a Pathfinder-compatible game book.  Pathfinder is a spin-off version of D&D 3rd edition.

sorry, I don't play those games so no clue on how they work, the only thing I know about d&D is from futurama and E.T. :P

Okay...  You're not required to know anything about D&D to enjoy the art.

That's the entire point of the Sisters of Rapture.  It's supposed to be an explanation as to why fantasy cheesecake exists, as opposed to just complaining about how unrealistic it is.  This explains it: fav.me/d5oo529

Well, at least there's an explanation beyond, 'socially awkward introverts who don't ever interact with women' :/

Awesome art-teaser for a product I’m already incredibly eager to see and purchase, TCatt.  Philip Fry (Just take my money) [V2]

Any word on a release-date, so I can plan my budget in preparation for giving you my money? Sweating a little... Or should I just start throwing it at the screen right now? :D (Big Grin)

Unfortunately, it's hard to tell. It's currently in the hands of my system editor who should be reviewing the crunch for mistakes, efficiency, and general coolness factor. After that, it will go to the copy editor to have the language and grammar reviewed. Once that's done, it will go through production for both the PDF and POD versions. In anticipation of that, the production of art is underway, but I've been having trouble getting some of the key pieces assigned, especially the ones I want done in Poser (an extremely modern art form that have have no clue how to create myself). My goal is to get it out by the end of the year, at the most, but then, I've been saying that for about two years now, so... I will say that it uses The Modern Path system, originally produced by Game Room Creations (and still available from them on DriveThruRPG), and you'll need that book to play it. Fantastic Gallery now owns TMP, and is planning to release a bundle with this game when it's ready.

So, “when it’s done”, huh?  Well, I was kind of expecting that — and I can wait for a quality product like this. Drool   On tenterhooks, perhaps :eager: by darkmoon3636 ... but I can wait.  Ohm... Ohm...
